Nationwide Building Society, a cooperative financial institution in the UK, has unveiled plans to trim its office space.
According to a Reuters report, the lender has asked its 13,000 office-based staff to work from anywhere in the country.
It has also decided not to extend the leases on three of its offices in Swindon in the southwest of England.
However, Nationwide will continue to keep its headquarters and other regional hubs.
The move comes as remote working becomes a norm following the Covid-19 outbreak with several banks mulling to reduce office space.
Nationwide has more than 15 million members. It is one of the largest household savings and mortgage providers in the UK.

The bank also plans to shut down 111 branches by August this year and shift its headquarters from London to Milton Keynes.
The decision is expected to impact around 5,000 staff, who will be offered new working arrangements, the news agency added citing the bank.
The increase in usage of mobile and online banking following the pandemic has forced Santander to take the decision.
Other major lenders such as HSBC and Lloyds have also said that they will trim office space.
