Norddeutsche Landesbank, Germany’s fifth largest bank by assets, has charged the German self-service and ATM leader Wincor Nixdorf with the management of its IT infrastructure.

The contract, which will begin on 1 July 2013, has a seven-year term and a value estimated at €150m ($195m).

Wincor Nixdorf will oversee the operation of two data centres, 400 server systems and 7,000 workstation systems.

The company will provide and update software and applications for these systems as well as operating 200 databases, the network and all communications equipment.

Wincor Nixdorf will supply the services from its sites in Paderborn, Bonn Hamburg and Prague.

Richard Arnold, head of IT operations at Landesbank, said: "By commissioning Wincor Nixdorf, Landesbank will not only achieve more flexibility and a significant reduction in its IT costs as part of its ‘more provider strategy’, but also optimize its IT architecture in the long term and at the same time take account of technological development."
